I recently stumbled across an advice column with the
following (condensed version) question and answer: “Dear XXXX, I’m in a
relationship with a man who has a 14 year old daughter. The problem is, every
time we go somewhere, the daughter sits in the front seat while I have to sit
in the back. Do you think that’s right?” (I’m already angry at this point) The
equally dumb answer? “Dear XXXX, I understand your concern. You should be
honest with your boyfriend and suggest you and the daughter take turns sitting
in the front. If you are confrontational, the person who ends up out of the car
will be you.”
